KITCHEN UPDATE

When we moved into our first townhouse I had my first opportunity to design my own kitchen. We were definitely working with a budget since we had just spent 25k over asking price and money out of pocket to seal the deal. It took me a couple of months, but I started with painting the cabinets myself and adding all new hardware. I was going for a farmstyle kitchen so I wanted to make sure all the handles and hinges really stuck out. I went with an oil rubbed bronze finish for all hardware. After the cabinets were done, I began my hunt for the perfect countertops. My husband didn't care for real marble and I didn't want imitation quartz either. We settled on a natural stone called Namib Sky Quartzite. I use it in a lot of projects for work when a client wants the life of marble, with the durability of granite. I swapped our my dual basin sink for a stunning Krauss 30" single basin sink. It only cost us about $300, but it made a HUGE impact aesthetically and also functionality. After we had the countertops installed, we started on the tile work. I selected this 4x4" white ceramic tile from Daltile and it was only $.99 a square foot. We went with an offset pattern to give it an interesting look and almost a coffee shop vibe, with a dark grey grout to make it really pop. When we sold our townhouse, everyone's favorite room was the kitchen and for good reason. It has that serene, clean, but cozy vibe that just draws you in. The laminate we placed throughout the whole downstairs, and is from Lowe's costing us only $.99 per square foot as well. The space has a counter depth refrigerator due to it's galley style, it's pretty narrow for a kitchen.
