Small Kitchen, Maximum Function

This weekend started off with painting the entire exterior of house, I'll post about that later haha. My small task of finding new house numbers for the front of our house led me to CB2, and across the street from CB2 in Berkeley? Crate and Barrel Outlet, of course! My husband and I wandered in and found the kitchen island we had seen at regular Crate and Barrel for about $1,300.00 on discount for $500.00!
After we rushed home to measure the space and make sure it would fit, we enlisted the help of our best friend's truck to get it home (haha). The steel frame construction gives it a substantial presence in the kitchen without drawing your eye down. Our kitchen has plenty of cabinet space (pantry/refrigerator are to the left of the garage door), so I was actually wanting something open for the space as opposed to closed in cabinetry. My biggest gripe about my kitchen are the extremely dark quartz counters, they came with the home and we didn't see any reason to replace them yet. My dream would be to have carrara counters in the whole kitchen, but this gorgeous island will make up for that. I just love how special the island looks, because it contrasts the stark white cabinets with some much needed elegance. Luckily I was able to scrounge around the house for some cute decor items to toss on it for some quick photos, but overall I am VERY pleased with our purchase!
